Tasting Sucres d'Orge in Moret-Sur-Loing

The visit of the day is a small medieval village, Moret-Sur-Loing. It is located in Seine-et-Marne and has 4500 inhabitants. It used to be a royal city when monarchy was still implemented in France.

Moret is an unmissable place for history lovers. Indeed, the royal city-center houses amazing Renaissance frontages, medieval fortified doors, a donjon, a bridge, and last but not least, the Notre-Dame church. Moret-Sur-Loing was also de home of impressionist artist Alfred Sisley, who lived 20 years in the village. The latter was an important inspiration for the painter.

Not only is Moret-Sur-Loing famous for its medieval architecture and impressionist paintings, it is also known for its candies, the Sucres d'Orge. Jeanne is so excited to taste them !

The Sucres d'Orge are prepared by the nuns of the village, and the recipe has been kept secret since 1638. The candy is still handmade in Moret, and even has its House and its Museum in the village ! Homemade, natural, and so much better than industrial candies !

Jeanne and Léon enjoyed their day-trip in Moret-sur-Loing so much ! They will defeintely be coming back, once their box of sucres d'orge is empty...

See you very soon, friends !
