A spoon of creamy cheese in Fontainebleau castle's gardens

On this bright Sunday morning Sunday, Jeanne and Leon decide to go for a getaway from Paris. They are aiming for a calmer city, preferably with beautiful architecture and, of course, tasty local food to try !

Being an unconditionnal lover of French history, Leon has been wanting to visit the castle of Fontainebleau for a while. Jeanne has heard of a local cheese name after the city. So this morning, they are heading to Gare de Lyon to take train R, with the plan to visit the lovely city of Fontainebleau ! There are mutliple departures from Paris stopping at the Fontainebleau station. The train ride lasts about 40 minutes, and then, they take the bus line n°1 (direction : Les Lilas) to the city-center for only 2 euros. Their stop is the Hotel de Ville Station.

Jeanne and Leon are now standing in the Grande Street. Fontainebleau is a lovely city of 15 000 inhabitants. It is surrounded by the famous Fontainebleau Forest known for its great rock climbing spots.

Fontainebleau is also the name of a very creamy cheese that Jeanne is delighted to taste today.

The best place to get Fontainebleau cheese is the Fromagerie Barthélémy, located on 92, Rue Grande. According to the story, the Fontainebleau cheese was invented is this dairy shop in the XVIIIth century. This cheese contains at least 60% of fat and is composed of mainly cream made from whole cow milk.

After buying their little pot of Fontainebleau cheese, Jeanne and Leon head to the gates of the Castle of Fontainebleau. It is just a few steps away from the city center, making it really accessible !

Another important aspects of Fontainebleau is its beautiful, diversified gardens. They spread on 115 hectares. Also noticeable is the carps pond, located just outside the famous Galerie François Ier.

Actually, the grass next to the carps pond is the perfect place to sit down and enjoy a few spoons of fresh Fontainebleau cheese !

You can enjoy this creamy cheese as a desert with fresh berries, homemade jam, or a little bit of honey.

Bon appétit !
